Business Value: IT Consultant/Trusted Advisor.

The role of IT consultants in today's business world has become increasingly vital as technology continues to advance at a rapid pace. These experts bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, helping organizations to navigate the ever-changing landscape of digital tools and systems. By working with an IT consultant, businesses can gain access to the latest technology and best practices, which can result in significant improvements in productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness.

An IT consultant can provide valuable guidance and support in areas such as system design and implementation, software development, and data management. They can also help organizations to identify and mitigate potential risks, such as data breaches or system failures. Furthermore, IT consultants can provide training and support for employees, ensuring that everyone is able to make the most of the tools and systems at their disposal.

The benefits of working with an IT consultant extend beyond just technical expertise. They bring an outside perspective and can provide valuable insights that organizations may not have considered. They can help companies to identify new opportunities and develop strategies for growth and innovation. In today's fast-paced, digital-first business environment, the ability to stay ahead of the curve is crucial for success, and IT consultants can play a vital role in helping organizations achieve that goal.

Overall, IT consulting is a valuable investment for any business that wants to stay competitive and thrive in the digital age. It brings in the technical skills, expertise, and the outside perspective necessary to ensure that the organization's IT infrastructure and processes are aligned with the company's goals and objectives.

Windows 11 is just showing off

Microsoft has been on a decade long roll.

From Office365 to Azure to D365 to Windows, they have been crushing it and then some.

An already fabulous Windows 10 had won the hearts and minds of customers, especially longtime busness users and IT administrators, who had suffered thru the Vista/Win8 mistakes and misfires.  Now along comes the slick Windows 11, which just appears with a few simple mouse clicks, offering users the same Windows 10 stability, but with a streamlined UI, and noticably more speed and stability.  I'm not sure I've ever liked a new OS as much as I like Win11, it's that good.

Take your victory laptop Microsoft, Windows 11 is a massive WIN.

Buurst, a disruptor in the storage space.

A colleague has recently joined cloud storage disruptor Buurst, and after lengthy due diligence, I am happy to include Buurst's cloud offerings with our Azure consulting deliverables.

Buurst allows companies to create Azure (and EC2) based storage volumes with superior performance and economics versus traditional storage/NAS/DAS, etc... CFOs and system administrators, weary of the ongoing costs and complexities of on-premises storage in these COVID times, will want to engage with us to arrange a test deployment of Buurst, and see for themselves .... IT organizations who cannot abandon legacy and on-prem storage standards will appreciate the diversity of standards and protocols that Buurst supports ... The Azure/Buurst platform, combined with TVC's extensive experience with cloud migrations, creates opportunities for storage that is cheaper and simpler, with no performance hit, or impact to end users ...

We will be continuing to share information about the Buurst platform and its advantages to customers.

Verizon 5G is here

Verizon starts offering home 5G internet today in select markets including LA.  If you're a Verizon customer you can purchase this service for $50 / month ... speeds are near 300mbps, no data caps, and they throw in an Apple TV or Chromecast.

The home broadband oligarchy is over, $50 / month pricing is never going to hold once AT&T and T-Mobile get into the act, I'd be surprised if we didn't see $30/month for 500 mbps speeds by late 2019.  Additionally, with Time Warner now owned by ATT, we’ll see the wireless guys competing on content and programming, so that they’re offering more than just the plumbing for these services.

Comcast, CenturyLink, and the rest of the old guard had better be hard at work figuring out a response to this ... there's no scenario where these new 5G service plans don't completely obliterate the legacy cable company business model.
