Verizon 5G is here

Verizon starts offering home 5G internet today in select markets including LA.  If you're a Verizon customer you can purchase this service for $50 / month ... speeds are near 300mbps, no data caps, and they throw in an Apple TV or Chromecast.

The home broadband oligarchy is over, $50 / month pricing is never going to hold once AT&T and T-Mobile get into the act, I'd be surprised if we didn't see $30/month for 500 mbps speeds by late 2019.  Additionally, with Time Warner now owned by ATT, we’ll see the wireless guys competing on content and programming, so that they’re offering more than just the plumbing for these services.

Comcast, CenturyLink, and the rest of the old guard had better be hard at work figuring out a response to this ... there's no scenario where these new 5G service plans don't completely obliterate the legacy cable company business model.
